HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Disaster recovery officials from PEMA and FEMA today announced new hours for the 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) teleregistration line. The new hours are 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily until further notice.

Pennsylvania residents affected by heavy rain and flooding beginning April 2 are encouraged to call the teleregistration number and start the process to assist in your recovery.

Registering with other agencies – such as the American Red Cross or your county emergency management office – will not connect you with FEMA or the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s disaster assistance programs.

It takes approximately 20 minutes to complete the registration process. Callers will be asked for their current and pre-disaster address, current telephone numbers and insurance information. They also will be asked to describe the damage and when it occurred.

TTY service is available at 1﷓800﷓462﷓7585 for hearing- or speech-impaired applicants. Residents may also apply online at www.fema.gov/about/process.

Assistance can include grants to help pay for temporary housing, minor home repairs and other serious disaster-related expenses not covered by insurance or other sources. Low-interest loans from the U. S. Small Business Administration are also available for residential and business losses not covered by insurance.

FEMA prepares the nation for all hazards and manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, trains first responders, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
