October 6, 2008 David Trotter of Marysville was named to the 13-member Lamb Board by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. The board is comprised of feeders, producers and handlers and develops markets for lamb products. September 10, 2008 Seven Floyd County high school seniors have been named semifinalists for National Merit Scholarships. Nearly 16,000 semifinalists have been named. Winners will be annouced next summer.

VA Now Accepting Applications for New GI Bill Benefits: Hill supported legislation modernizing education benefits
(Washington, DC) - Last June, President Bush signed the new GI Bill for the 21st Century into law.  Under this legislation, which Congressman Baron Hill supported, qualified veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars will have access to full, four-year college scholarships.  As of May 1, 2009, the Veterans Administration (VA) has begun processing applications for certifications of eligibility for the enhanced benefits. ... view more
