The Patrol Branch performs the full spectrum of law enforcement activities to accomplish the Force mission through cruiser, scooter, foot patrol, bicycle and plainclothes patrol.  Patrol Branch duties include crime reduction and prevention, drug enforcement,  public assistance,  and a wide variety of traffic duties to include enforcement, traffic control and accident investigation.  Special duties also include crowd control at special events and demonstrations and Presidential and dignitary protection. The Patrol Branch consists of three districts (Central, East and West) in the Washington metropolitan area. The Patrol Branch Commander directly supervises the District Commanders.
