South Rim Transportation   jump to The North Rim

THIS SPRING,  RIDE THE PARK'S FREE SHUTTLE BUSES AND SAVE FUEL !
Grand Canyon National Park's free shuttle buses operate in and around the South Rim. Village. No tickets are required, and bus stops are clearly marked throughout the park by signs.

Guided Bus Tours
Xanterra Parks & Resorts conducts Guided Bus Tours within the park. Call (303) 297-2757, toll free (888) 297-2757, FAX (303) 297-3175. Visitors arriving in the park should contact any transportation desk for information or call (928) 638-2631 to make arrangements. Tours include Sunrise, Sunset, Desert View Drive, and Hermits Rest Road. Tours are available throughout the year. Wheelchair-accessible coaches are available by prior arrangement.

Concessioner Transportation Desks
Information about Phantom Ranch facilities, mule trips, horseback riding, air tours, one-day float trips, and motor coach tours (including wheelchair-accessible vehicles) is available in the lodge lobbies (hours vary seasonally). Call (928) 638-2631, ext. 6015.

Taxi Service
Daily, twenty-four hour, service is available to the Grand Canyon Airport, trailheads, and other destinations.  Call (928) 638-2822 or (928) 638-2631, ext. 6563.

On-Call Paratransit Service
For visitors needing mobility assistance and do not have their own transportation or are not part of a guided tour. Accessible shuttle buses may be available in response to requests made at least 24 hours in advance. Call 928-638-0591.

The Trans-Canyon Shuttle runs between the north and south rims of the park once each day, in each direction, and the travel time is about 4 1/2 hours each way. This is the only means of public transportation between the rims aside from hiking or driving yourself.

  • The shuttle leaves the north rim at 7:00 a.m. and arrives at the south rim at 12:00 p.m.
  • The shuttle leaves the south rim at 1:30 p.m. and arrives back at the north rim at 6:30 p.m.

The fare is $80 per person one way, $150 round trip.
The fare is $65 per person one way to Marble Canyon, AZ

Reservations are required and can be made by calling 928-638-2820. Scheduled service is available between May 15th and October 15. http://www.trans-canyonshuttle.com


 

North Rim Transportation

Hiker Shuttle
A shuttle to the North Kaibab trailhead is available twice daily in the morning. Cost is $8 for first person and $5 for each additional person. Purchase tickets at Grand Canyon Lodge front desk. The passenger pick-up is in front of the lodge. Reservations are required 24 hours in advance.

KOLB STUDIO GRAND CANYON N.P.  

Did You Know?
Kolb Studio was once the home and business of the Kolb brothers, pioneering photographers at Grand Canyon. Today you can visit free art exhibits in the auditorium and shop in the bookstore. The studio is located in the Village Historic District, at the Bright Angel Trailhead. Open daily.
