| The park's Santa Fe Trail Traveling Trunk is filled with period clothing, maps, games, and pictures. The guide book has ten lesson plans complete with worksheets, outlines, and visual aids. |

The traveling trunk serves as a mini-museum helping bring history alive in the classroom. The trunk contains a variety of hands-on objects, books, videos, and a resource guide (for a complete list of all the contents, please refer to the traveling trunk inventory sheet). The trunk is designed for primarily for 4th-6th grade classes within theSanta Fe Trailregion includingColorado,Kansas,Missouri,New Mexico, andOklahoma. Lessons, activities, and objects relate to the cultures and lifestyles of the 1840’sSanta Fe Trailpeople. This trunk may be used as an exhibit, part of lesson plans, learning group activities, or in many other creative ways. Call (719) 383-5026 for more information and reservations.

Did You Know?
Many of the west’s most important men passed through the gates of Bent’s Fort. Some of their names were Joseph Walker, John C. Fremont, Kit Carson, Bill Williams, Tom Fitzpatrick, Dick Wooten, Francis Parkman, Marcus Whitman, General Kearny, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, and George Ruxton.
