Devils Postpile National Monument Begins Public Comment Period for Developed Area Facility Improvements Project

Devils Postpile National Monument has completed an environmental assessment (EA) for the Developed Area Facility improvements Project to improve the park's maintenance facility operations, address safety concerns and thus provide better living conditions for its resident employees. Flames from the Rainbow Fire came dangerously close to Reds Meadow Resort, just one and a half miles from the Monument.

The 1992 Rainbow Fire, which was sparked by a lightning strike, burned 82% of Devils Postpile National Monument.
