Welcome to Katmai National Park sign on Naknek Lake beach.
Under the requirements of the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act of 1980, (ANILCA), there is no entrance fee for Katmai National Park. There are, however, other fees such as for camping at Brooks Camp and for commercial filming and photography permits.

The Novarupta eruption on June 6-9, 1912 was the greatest volcanic eruption in the 20th century. Ash from the eruption traveled as far as Seattle, Washington; Virginia; and even to Africa.
