PUBLIC INVITED TO EXPLORE THE NOAA SHIP RAINIER

Tour the Most Modern and Productive Nautical Charting Ship of Its Type in the World

The officers and crew of the NOAA Ship RAINIER extend a cordial invitation to an open house for Juneau citizens on Sunday, May 30, from 1-4pm , at the NOAA sub-port in downtown Juneau, east of the Coast Guard dock. Visitors will be able to tour the ship and see the modern equipment and techniques utilized by the ship in producing a nautical chart for the Alaskan mariner.

The NOAA Ship Rainier is presently conducting hydrographic survey operations in the Lynn Canal between Juneau and Berners Bay. Preliminary data collected in Lynn Canal will also be on display.

NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, is an agency within the Department of Commerce. The NOAA Corps, a corps of commissioned officers, is the seventh and smallest of the US uniformed services.
