Summary

In response to this Notice, the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) seeks applications for administrative supplements to existing awards to support the purchase of equipment and/or scientific instrumentation. Applications for a supplement must include a justification for the proposed purchase(s), including a clear description of how the purchase(s) will further the research supported by the parent award. Applications must also comply with all criteria detailed in NOT-OD-09-056. Support for these supplements will come from funds provided to the NIH through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 ("Recovery Act" or "ARRA"), Public Law 111-5.

This opportunity is one of several being offered by NIH and NINR to help fulfill the goals of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to help stimulate the economy through support of biomedical and behavioral research. For more information on NINR ARRA-related activities, please visit: http://www.ninr.nih.gov/Recovery.

Additional information about the Recovery Act and related NIH opportunities is available through the NIH Office of Extramural Research (http://grants.nih.gov/recovery).

NINR Funding Priorities

In response to this Notice, NINR will accept applications from current NINR grantees that hold a grant with any activity code (mechanism), excluding the following: individual fellowship awards (F series, i.e. F31, F32, etc.); institutional training awards (T series, i.e. T32, T90, etc.); or career development awards (K series, i.e. K01, K03, etc.).

Overall, NINR expects to devote approximately $400,000 to this supplement program. This total is only approximate; the final amount will depend on the number of applications received, funds available, and merit of the proposals received.

Selection criteria are detailed in the Selection Factors section of the Notice (NOT-OD-09-056). While geographic variation will be considered in awarding Recovery Act funding, a proposal's scientific merit will always be the prevailing criterion.

NINR will only consider applications requesting up to $99,999 in total costs. For more budget information, see the Budget and Funding section of the Notice in the NIH Guide (NOT-OD-09-056).
