NINDS Supplement Program Using American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Funds

Skip secondary menu

NINDS will utilize some of the funds made available under the ARRA to supplement existing NINDS grants during FY2009 and FY2010. NINDS will participate in all three supplement programs released in NOT-09-056, NOT-09-058 and NOT-09-060. See the three links below for NINDS-specific guidance.

The award of an Administrative Supplement to foster Summer Research Experiences (see # 2 below) does not make you ineligible to receive either an ARRA Administrative Supplement or a Competitive Revisions award.

  1. Administrative Supplements for research that falls within the scope of an NINDS-funded project
  2. Administrative Supplements to Foster Summer Research Experience (Closed: 4/22/2009)
This program allows investigators and institutions with active NIH funding to request administrative supplements to increase the pace of approved and funded projects through the employment of students and science educators for the summer months.
  3. Competitive Revisions (also called Competitive Supplements; NIH Notice NOT-OD-09-058 )
These supplements are for research that falls outside the scope of an NINDS-funded project. Applications for these supplements will need to undergo NIH peer review. Competitive revisions may be used for most activity codes, but not for fellowships (F), conference grants (R13s), individual K awards, and training grants (T).
Please note that guidance on Supplements using ARRA funds continues to evolve. NINDS strongly encourages those developing an application to check this site frequently for any updates.
