USFCS & Multilateral Development Banks

On August 9, 2004 the Congressionally-mandated reorganization of the Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration was implemented. As part of this reorganization, the U.S. Commercial Service is now managing the Department of Commerce representatives to the Multilateral Development Banks (MDB). These representatives are responsible for protecting American commercial interests at the MDBs, which altogether finance development projects worth billions of dollars throughout the world. With these representatives reporting to the U.S. Commercial Service, the USG hopes to markedly increase the proportion of MDB tenders won by American firms.
