Marine Protected Areas

  • 70 FR 49902, August 25, 2005. Notice of availability on a draft EA on the process for classifying U.S. commercial fisheries on the List of Fisheries. NMFS is reopening the comment period for an additional 60 days. Comment period through October 24, 2005.

North Pacific Right Whales

  • 70 FR 66332, November 2, 2005. NMFS proposes to revise the current critical habitat for the northern right whale (Eubalaena glacialis) by designating additional areas within the North Pacific Ocean. Comment period through January 3, 2006. Requests for public hearings due by December 19, 2005.

Observer Program (Groundfish)

  • 70 FR 45638, August 8, 2005. Proposed rule to amend regulations to revise requirements for the facilitation of observer data transmission, improving support for observers, and providing consistency with current regulations regarding the the North Pacific Groundfish Observer Program. Comment period through September 7, 2005.

  • 70 FR 19409, April 13, 2005. Proposed rule to implement Amendment 10 to the FMP for the Scallop Fishery off Alaska. Comment period through May 31, 2005.
  • 70 FR 15063, March 24, 2005. Notice of availability for proposed Amendment 10 to modify the gear endorsements under the LLP for the scallop fishery to increase the dredge size allowed on vessels that qualify for the gear restriction endorsement. Comment period through May 23, 2005.

Stock Assessment Reports

  • 70 FR 3709, June 28, 2005. Notice of Availability of the Alaska, Atlantic, and Pacific regional marine mammal stock assessment reports (SAR's) in accordance woth the MMPA; SAR's were revised according to new information. Public commment period through September 26, 2005.
