The new Motion Control Hand operates much the same way as other electric hands, i.e., using myoelectric signals from the remnant limb, with a quick-disconnect wrist to allow for rapid changing of the terminal device. But there are many important improvements that will make a significant difference to the wearer. The Motion Control Hand was developed through a grant from the National Center for Medical Rehabilitation Research (2R44HD36119-02).
