ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Those individuals attending the Village Fair on Saturday at Kenai Central High School will have a chance to learn ways to protect against potential disaster events such as avalanches, spring ice breakup, flooding, ice and wind storms, severe cold, earthquakes and fires.

The multi-hazard information booth, sponsored by The Alaska Division of Emergency Services (ADES) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), will be staffed from 9 AM to 3 PM.

Individuals can meet face-to-face with a disaster prevention adviser to discuss ways to eliminate or reduce the financial losses, stress and heartaches associated with hazard events. Materials available to take home for use in family discussions about hazard awareness include disaster prevention and safety handouts and, for children, disaster awareness coloring books provided by the American Red Cross.
