Federal Funds Approved For Earthquake Disaster Victims

Anchorage, AK -- Three weeks after the recent earthquake disaster declaration, more than $34,400 has been approved for disaster relief for the Alaska Gateway and Copper River Regional Education Attendance Areas. The money will go to some of the residents that applied for federal disaster aid following the November 3-10 earthquake and aftershocks.
At this time:
- 119 individuals have registered for various disaster aid programs by calling the teleregistration center.
- $28,207 in housing assistance has been approved under the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Individuals and Households Program (IHP). Housing assistance is just one of a number of programs in place to help people to begin to recover from the quake with minor home repairs or temporary rental assistance.
- $6,270 has been approved for other needs under FEMA's IHP.
- The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has accepted 27 low-interest disaster loan applications, 17 from homeowners and renters, and ten from business owners.
- 104 home inspections have been ordered; 29 of those inspections have been completed.
