Two Disaster Recovery Centers Closing March 3

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Washington Emergency Management Division (WEMD) announce the closing of the remaining two Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) on Tuesday, March 3, 2009. They are:

Bellingham DRC

Stanwood DRC
Stanwood Camano Community Fairground
Youth Exhibit Hall
6431 Pioneer Highway
Stanwood, WA 98292

The DRCs have served residents and businesses affected by the January severe weather.  From now until the closings, the hours of operation remain 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

It is not necessary to visit a DRC to register for assistance. Those with questions or who are interested in applying can still register for disaster assistance by calling toll-free, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) (TTY 1-800-462-7585), 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. Online registration is also available at www.disasterassistance.gov. The deadline for all applications is Tuesday, March 31, 2009.  

Residents from Benton, Cowlitz, Clallam, Grays Harbor, King, Kittitas, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, Pierce, Skagit, Snohomish, Thurston, Wahkiakum and Whatcom, counties designated for disaster assistance, are eligible for disaster assistance.

FEMA leads and supports the nation in a risk-based, comprehensive emergency management system of preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation to reduce the loss of life and property and protect the nation from all hazards including natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other man-made disasters.
