WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The land movement continues and is expected to eventually impact all 130 homes in the subdivision of the City of Kelso designated for federal disaster assistance. State and FEMA staff from the Disaster Field Office (DFO) are working with local officials to determine the total boundaries of the damage area in order quickly administer Individual Assistance (IA) disaster programs to affected residents.

On Oct. 27, a meeting was held to determine what other State or Federal programs could be included for assistance to affected residents. HUD Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding was identifies d as an additional possible federal resource.

Approximately 90 percent of the houses impacted by the landslide have been inspected. As of Oct. 28, 103 applicants had received disaster assistance and 82 checks have been disbursed for rental assistance totaling $116,000.
