WINDSOR, Conn. -- Federal aid for Connecticut individuals and business owners with losses from April’s severe storms and flooding is approaching $2.7 million. These grants and loans, which are administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), are being made available as a result of the presidential disaster declaration of June 13.

"FEMA is continuing to register individuals and businesses, inspect damage, evaluate claims and deliver assistance quickly to help everyone who is eligible recover from storm damage and continue their normal endeavors," said Federal Coordinating Officer Mike Parker.

Residents of Fairfield, Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London and Windham counties have until August 13, 2007 to register for assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).

"With only one month left until the registration deadline, I urge everyone affected by the storm to call FEMA to register," Governor M. Jodi Rell said.

As of Friday morning, July 13, here is a snapshot of recovery activities for individuals and businesses from the Connecticut Office of Emergency Management, FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
