PORTSMOUTH, N.H. - As disaster recovery progresses in the communities affected by April's nor'easter, the operating hours for FEMA/State Disaster Recovery Centers are changing to reflect the lessening level of activity. So far, more than 500 people have visited the centers to talk with recovery officials and get help completing U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest loan applications.

The DRCs operating in Concord (2 Industrial Drive) and Manchester (160 Silver Street) will close on Wed. May 16, at the end of the business day at 6 p.m. The Community Action Programs at these locations will continue to help flood victims.

Additionally, operating hours for the remaining DRCs will change; starting Wed., May 16, the DRCs’ will be open Mon. – Fri., 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sat. 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., until further notice or as noted:

Residents are encouraged to visit a DRC if they have questions about disaster assistance and want to talk with a FEMA representative in person. At the centers, people can also talk with representatives from state agencies and voluntary organizations, receive help filling out an SBA loan application and take home information about how to reduce damages from future storms.

When the DRCs close, assistance is only a phone call away. Applicants can check on the status of their application or get answers to their questions by calling the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for those with hearing or speech impairment.
