With the assistance of a federal mediator, Western Energy and members of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 400 at Rosebud Mine have approved a four-year contract, ending a strike that began on March 20. Both sides returned to talks after an initial contract offer from Western Energy Co., the owner of Rosebud Mine and a subsidiary of Westmoreland Coal Co. was rejected.
