The Healthy Housing Inspection Manual addresses the broad range of housing
deficiencies and hazards that can affect resident health and safety. The
manual is for environmental health professionals, public health
professionals, housing managers, specialists, and inspectors, and serves as
a useful resource for outreach workers and for others.
Eagle Books
Exhibitions
CDC is launching an Eagle Books Community Outreach Campaign for the next
four years. From 2008 through 2012, American Indian and Alaska Native
communities throughout Indian Country will have an opportunity to host a
week-long series of events celebrating the Eagle Books and their
culturally-relevant messages about physical activity and healthy eating.
The
Community Health Worker's Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Sourcebook
The sourcebook is meant to serve as an instruction manual for training
community health workers (CHW) and as a reference and a resource for 1) CHWs
working with community members in preventing heart disease and stroke and 2)
CHWs working with those who already have heart disease or who have already
had a heart attack or stroke.

Resulting from Car Surfing- United States, 1990-2008 (11/20/08)
"Car surfing" is a term introduced in the mid-1980s to describe a
thrill-seeking activity that involves riding on the exterior of a moving
motor vehicle while it is being driven by another person. CDC analysis
identified 58 reports of car-surfing deaths and 41 reports of nonfatal
injury from 1990 through August 2008.

and Injuries Related to Total Release Foggers- Eight States, 2001-2006

Total release foggers (TRFs), sometimes called "bug bombs," are pesticide
products designed to fill an area with insecticide and are used in homes and
workplaces to kill cockroaches, fleas, and flying insects. During 2001-2006,
a total of 466 TRF-related illnesses or injuries were identified.
Use of Mental
Health Services in the Past 12 Months by Children Aged 4-17 Years- United
States, 2005-2006 (11/20/08)
In 2005-2006, 15% of U. S. children aged 4-17 years had parents who talked
to a health care provider or school staff about their child's emotional or
behavioral difficulties. This included 18% of boys and 11% of girls.
