RALEIGH, N.C. -- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) specialists will set up information centers at the Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouses in Rocky Mount and Washington next week to demonstrate rebuilding to minimize future damage. The centers will be open 9 a.m. until 7 p.m., Nov. 30-Dec. 5. No appointment is needed.
The centers give property owners the chance to consult with experts as they rebuild after a disaster, or in advance of disaster. FEMA specialists provide printed materials and advice about rebuilding techniques that lessen the chance of future disaster damage. Visitors to the center can view drawings and models demonstrating prevention techniques.
Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouses host the information centers in communities affected by recent hurricanes as part of Project Impact, a nationwide initiative of FEMA, in partnership with local business and community leaders, to make communities more disaster resistant.
The application period for disaster assistance closes 6 p.m. Dec.14, 1999.
