ATLANTA, Ga. -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reports the following assistance numbers for the Florida tornadoes, FEMA-1679-DR:

As of 1 PM EST today:

NOTE: There were checks issued and direct deposits in accounts by 9:30 a.m. Monday.

NOTE: Although the standard turnaround time for housing inspection and distribution of funds to applicants after registration is normally 7-10 days, we have observed quicker turnaround times for applicants registering for disaster assistance. This is due to the size and scope of this disaster and the fact that we are in the early phases of registration as well as the rapid turn-on of the FEMA call center and early presence of inspectors who lived in or near the state.

Anyone who suffered damage from the storms should register immediately with FEMA:

1-800-621-FEMA
(TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- or hearing-impaired)

FEMA manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident, initiates mitigation activities and manages the National Flood Insurance Program. FEMA works closely with state and local emergency managers, law enforcement personnel, firefighters and other first responders. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
