June 24 Is Last Day To Register For Disaster Aid

Miami, FL -- Miami-Dade County residents and business owners who sustained damages because of the March 27 severe storms and tornadoes have until June 24 to register for disaster assistance, according to federal and state disaster recovery officials.
To initiate the aid process, those affected must register by first calling the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) toll-free registration number, at 1-800-621-3362, or TTY, 1-800-462-7585 for those with speech or hearing impairments. The telephone lines are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
"We don't want anyone to miss getting the help that is available, if they are eligible to apply," said Kenneth O. Burris, Jr., FEMA's Region IV director. "To be eligible under various assistance programs, losses must be a direct result of the March 27 disaster."
"The registration phone call is your application for various kinds of help available," added Director Craig Fugate of the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM). "Telephone registration has proven to be the simplest, quickest, most efficient and confidential way to apply."
The tele-registration process is a one-stop application process that will allow impacted residents the opportunity to apply for numerous federal assistance programs.
