Welcome to the Rocky Mountain Center for Conservation Genetics and Systematics

Photograph of the Boettcher Center. The Rocky Mountain Center for Conservation Genetics and Systematics was officially opened in June 2003, following a joint initiative by the University of Denver and the U.S. Geological Survey. It is dedicated to the application of genetic theory and techniques to the conservation of biological diversity and to the investigation of phylogenetic relationships. In addition to the University of Denver and the U.S. Geological Survey, affiliated organizations include the Denver Botanic Gardens, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and the Denver Zoological Foundation.

Housed at the University of Denver, the Center provides a multi-user facility in which scientists and students with different skills and backgrounds can interact and collaborate on a variety of research projects. As such, the Center also facilitates the training of undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral students in techniques vital to conservation genetics and systematics work, including molecular genetics, evolution, bioinformatics, and biotechnology.
