Allowance and Post Differential |

Effective September 24, 2000, unless otherwise noted, Allowances and/or Post Differential Rates are revised as shown. These changes will be part B of TL:SR-590. Please inform local offices of all U.S. government agencies at the posts listed in this cable. Abbreviations and short form designations of posts will be used in this telegram; complete post entries will be shown in the subsequent pages of printed section 920. Important: Read this entire message as posts may be listed more than once. Changes are listed by Allowance or Differential rather than by post. Taiwan has been included, when applicable, under arrangement with the American Institute in Taiwan. The Post (Cost-of-Living) Allowance changes for Belarus, Chile, Singapore, Switzerland, and United Kingdom are based on new Retail Price Schedules submitted by Minsk, Santiago, Singapore, Geneva, and Oxfordshire. All other Post Allowance changes are based on currency exchange rate information reported to the Office of Allowances as of the first Tuesday of the pay period (September 12, 2000). All Education At Post rate changes are based on new information supplied by posts for the 2000/2001 school year. The Post (Hardship) Differential change for Islamabad (incl. Rawalpindi), Pakistan is based on Allowances Team on-site visit to Islamabad. Effective 9/24/00, Footnote "T" of Section 920 is amended to reflect the change in the Post Allowance for civilian employees assigned to Keflavik-Grindavik who live "Off-Base" and have a higher Post Allowance due to some restricted access and use of the military base commissary and exchange facilities. The Cost-of-Living reporting requirement is changed for the following post in Section 920 of the DSSR effective 9/24/00 with TL:SR 590B: FROM TO LEBANON BEIRUT (COLUMN 9) MAY MAY/EThis information is available on the State Department Internet and Intranet sites.
