ZCZC MSPHMDMSR ALL TTAA00 KMSR DDHHMM HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL FORECAST DISCUSSION NWS NORTH CENTRAL RIVER FORECAST CENTER TWIN CITIES/CHANHASSEN MN 1245 PM CDT SAT AUG 29 2009 ...Precipitation... Over the past 24 hours... rainfall moved through eastern Minnesota... Wisconsin... Michigan... and eastern Illinois... dropping anywhere from a couple tenths of an inch to isolated one to two inches of new precipitation. The Detroit area received one to over two inches of rainfall over the past 24 hours. The precipitation gage at Adrian... Michigan... recorded 2.7 inches in 24 hours. The Upper Peninsula and northern lower Michigan received a scattered inch or two of rainfall. Light rain moved into the Red River Valley early this morning... leaving a couple of tenths of an inch of rainfall on the ground before moving south. Over the next 24 hours... the rainfall that is still falling in the Upper Peninsula and northern lower Michigan is expected to persist throughout the day... with another half inch of rainfall possible by tomorrow morning. The NCRFC area should be dry for the rest of the weekend after the rainfall subsides in Michigan. ...Hydrologic Conditions... Flooding continues in eastern Iowa ... western Illinois and north eastern Missouri. The Wapsipinicon River at De Witt is currently above its major flood level and is expected to remain that these levels for a few days. The lower Iowa River has a number of locations above flood stage at this time. These high flows are also affecting the Mississippi River down to the Grafton Illinois area.
