North American Free Trade Agreement

Tariff Elimination Schedule

All NAFTA qualifying products have duty-free status going into Canada.

Almost all NAFTA qualifying products have duty-free status going into Mexico. However, products that fall under the C+ category are still subject to duty going into Mexico. Duties for these products shall be removed in 15 equal stages beginning on January 1, 1994, and such goods shall be duty-free, effective January 1, 2008. Sugar, corn, nonfat dry milk, beans, and a few other tariff classifications fall under this category and will not be duty free until 2008.

To determine if your NAFTA qualifying product going to Mexico falls under the C+ category and is subject to duty charges, please contact an International Trade Specialist at 1-800-USA-TRADE.
