Disaster Recovery Centers to Open In Poplar Bluff and Willow Springs

Poplar Bluff, MO -- Disaster assistance for storm and tornado victims in southeast Missouri is as close as the nearest Disaster Recovery Center (DRC). For one-on-one help, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) are opening two more DRCs.

The centers will be staffed with disaster recovery specialists, including representatives from FEMA, the state and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to assist homeowners, renters and business owners affected by the severe storms and tornadoes of April 24-28. Information on temporary housing, low-interest loans, disaster unemployment and hazard mitigation will be available.

The new DRC locations and hours are, until further notice:

Howell County

The DRCs in Marble Hill and Ellsinore will continue to operate Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice.

While the DRC specialists can provide detailed program information, residents must first apply for disaster assistance by calling the FEMA toll-free registration number. The FEMA registration line is 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), TTY 1-800-462-7585 for those who are speech or hearing impaired. The registration lines are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week until further notice.
