Average monthly temperatures have been running from 2 to 4 degrees below normal across Central Illinois since the end of May. Springfield had its 6th coolest July on record, and tied for the 9th coolest June on record. Significant cooler spells occurred from June 18 to 30, from July 23 to 31, and from August 11 to 16 across the area. Normally there would be between 13 and 18 days with temperatures 90 degrees or warmer by now, but many locations this year have only hit the lower 90s on a few occasions.
