JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- If you suffered damage to your home or were otherwise affected by the recent flooding and live in the 19 counties below, you should immediately call 1-800-621-3362 (FEMA) (TTY 1-800-462-7585) or register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency online at www.fema.gov.

The Presidential disaster declaration of March 19 has been amended to make individuals in Bollinger, Carter, Christian, Franklin, Greene, Iron, Jasper, Jefferson, Maries, Newton, Oregon, Phelps, Pulaski, Reynolds, St. Francois, Stone, Texas, Washington, and Wayne Counties affected by the recent storms and flooding eligible for federal disaster assistance.

Assistance to individuals could include grants to help pay for temporary housing needs, essential home repairs and other serious disaster related expenses. Low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration also may be available to cover residential and business losses not fully compensated by insurance.

Even if you have registered with other agencies and organizations for help, you must register with FEMA to have access to FEMA and state disaster programs. Callers should be prepared to provide the name as shown on their Social Security card, their Social Security number, complete contact information, address of the damaged property, and insurance information. Assistance is for damage to primary residences only, and renters in that category may apply for aid along with homeowners.

"These counties have been included on the basis on ongoing damage assessments in close cooperation with local authorities and FEMA," said State Emergency Management Agency Director Ron Reynolds.

"Damage assessments were completed in the 19 counties but are continuing in several other counties where flooding occurred and may be added to the declaration if sufficient damage is found to qualify them for FEMA aid," said Federal Coordinating Officer Mike Parker.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
