SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- The Salt Lake County Disaster Recovery Center (DRC), located at 309 E. 100 South, is scheduled to close at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2. The DRC, which will be open 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. through Thursday, is a joint center staffed by state, federal and voluntary agency officials who are able to answer questions and provide information about the types of disaster assistance that may be available to registered victims of the August 11 tornado.
If you have questions about the status of an application you've already made, or you feel that the assistance you have received is insufficient to meet essential disaster-related losses, call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-525-0321 (TTY 1-800-462-7585) or visit the DRC before it closes at the end of business on Thursday.
Federal Coordinating Officer Steve L. Olsen and State Coordinating Officer Earl Morris urge those who suffered losses who haven't yet applied for assistance to call the toll-free registration line at 1-800-462-9029 to begin the application process. Hearing or speech-impaired persons may call the TTY registration line at 1-800-462-7585.
Assistance could include disaster housing assistance, grants to meet essential disaster-related needs, and low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration. Renters, homeowners and business owners who live or do business in Salt Lake County may still be eligible for disaster aid.
