Tour the Saxton House

Built in 1841 and modified in 1865 the brick Victorian Ida Saxton House has been refurbished to its original splendor with special focus on authenticity. Tours of the Saxton house are given by costumed docents and exhibits highlight the McKinley's story, display images and belongings of United States First Ladies, and reveal their supporting role in the lives of our Presidents. The second floor of the Saxton House features a wonderful shop offering a wide range of Victorian and historical-themed gifts.

The Education and Research Center at First Ladies National Historic Site features a 91-seat Victorian Theatre where films and documentaries on the first ladies are shown.

The Lives of the First Ladies

The National First Ladies' Library, the National Park Service's partner in this site's operation, maintains an in-depth website which explores not only the history and restoration of the buildings but the lives and accomplishments of every First Lady.
