Be A Junior Ranger

All jr ranger patches

All activities listed below are intended for children and youth to use in the park. The programs vary in difficulty from a one-day of fun activities to some serious searching for answers, but all the programs are linked to visiting the park and seeing and experiencing the park first-hand.

The Webranger program (link at right) is an on line National Parks activity.

Programs for this park

ϑ Kids can become Junior Naturalists and earn a patch and pencil by watching nature in the park and completing a 4-page activities sheet, which can be downloaded in advance of your visit. Junior Naturalist is usually the first step to being a Junior Park Ranger.
ϑ Kids can move up to being a Junior Park Ranger and earn an iron-on cloth patch and an Junior Park Ranger badge by completing a 16-page Junior Ranger Explorer Notebook. Contact the park for a copy.
ϑ Kids who like to look up things on the web (or read up in books) can try their hand at becoming a Junior Space Ranger by completing a 6-page activity sheet, which can be downloaded in advance of your visit. Junior Space Rangers earn an iron-on cloth "rocker" to add to the Junior Ranger patch.
ϑ The Adventure Guide for Teens is a 16-page color booklet that introduces youth to the Appalachian Trail (AT) within this park and enables them to become AT Junior Rangers.
