Record Cold Start For The Last Day Of School In Cheyenne

Record Low Temperature for June 8th at Cheyenne Airport

The record minimum temperature for June 8th at the Cheyenne Airport was broken early this morning, as a much cooler than normal airmass followed Thursday’s strong cold frontal passage into southeast Wyoming. The previous record low for this date was 34 degrees, set back in 1962. At 230 AM MDT this morning, the temperature at the Cheyenne Airport dropped below 34 degrees, eventually bottoming out at 31 degrees at 323 AM MDT.

Temperatures are expected to be between 32 and 35 degrees early this morning as many children in and around Cheyenne head out for the last day of school.

Although a warm jacket will be needed early this morning, afternoon high temperatures are expected to recover into the mid 60s to lower 70s today across Cheyenne and all of southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska panhandle.
