Sep  8:  The earliest measurable snowfall on record for Cheyenne occurred on
               this day
in 1929 with just under an inch (0.8) recorded.

               Cheyenne’s greatest daily precipitation for September occurred on this
               day in 1973 when 2.69 inches soaked the city.


Sep  9:  
The latest 100 degree temperature ever recorded in Scottsbluff was
               reached on this day in 1979,  while the latest 100 degree temperature
               ever recorded for Kimball, Nebraska occurred on this day in 1931.

              
Curiously, today is the latest day of the year in which no snow has
               been recorded in Cheyenne.  Snow has been recorded in Cheyenne on
               every remaining day of the year since September 9.

Sep 10:
Scottsbluff recorded a generous 1.67 inches of rain on this day in 1912,
              
while on this day in 1898, Kimball, Nebraska recorded it’s earliest
               snowfall on record with 1.0 inch.

Sep 11: Scottsbluff recorded it’s earliest measurable snow on record on this
               day in 1974 when just under an inch (0.8) fell.

Sep 12: Another 3.0 inches of snow fell on Scottsbluff on this day in 1974
               bringing the unseasonably early snow total to 3.8 inches.  Saratoga,
               Wyoming also recorded 4 inches of snow on this day in 1974.

              
Today is Laramie’s average first freeze date.

Sep 13:
On this day in 1993 another unseasonably early snowstorm brought
               5.5 inches of snow to Cheyenne while producing 2.5 inches in
               Scottsbluff.

              
The shortest time period between freezes in Cheyenne was set on this
               day in 1945 with a low of 30 degrees.  The last Spring freeze of that year
               was on June 18th, thus making the period between freezes just 86 days.

Sep 14: On this day in 1994 lightning struck the chimney of Minatare High School
               in Minatare, Nebraska.  The strike caused bricks to be thrown onto
               adjacent buildings and nearby cars.
