AUV Fest 2008
AUV Fest 2008 forms a collaborative effort between NOAA Office of Ocean Exploration and Research (OER), Office of Naval Research (ONR), and Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) to demonstrate advanced technology on Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV). The Navy develops this technology to search for and destroy undersea mines that threaten our military forces. During AUV Fest 2008, a group of archaeologists will use these instruments to examine a number of historic shipwrecks in Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay including two British warships lost during the American Revolution.

Census of Marine Life Lunchtime Seminar Series
A total of 21 lunchtime talks were held from April to June, 2007 at NOAA in Silver Spring, MD to discuss the Census of Marine Life's (CoML) relevance to NOAA.

ECS Initiative
The Extended Continental Shelf (ECS) Initiative aims to continue existing efforts and initiate new efforts to coordinate and support the collection and analysis of all relevant data, and to prepare the necessary documentation, to establish the outer limit of the U.S. ECS in accordance with international law.

NOAA Central Library
The NOAA Central Library (NCL) holds membership in the Integrated Product Team (IPT) dedicated to providing an end-to-end data management solution for NOAA's Office of Ocean Exploration and Research. The NCL archives video, imagery, products, and publications for OER expeditions.

Ocean Hall
The Office of Ocean Exploration and Research is the coordination point for NOAA’s partnership with the Smithsonian Institution to develop Ocean Hall, a national exhibit on the global ocean at the National Museum of Natural History. The exhibit, which includes an ocean exploration theme, opens in September 2008. The museum expects to receive seven million visitors that year and another 16 million virtual visitors on line.

SEADESC
The Southeastern United States Deep Sea Corals (SEADESC) Initiative was a collaborative effort to take a subset of information across a variety of OE-funded cruises in the South Atlantic Bight using the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute's Johnson Sea-Link submersible between 2002 and 2005 to characterize areas of habitat-forming, deep-sea corals in the South Atlantic Bight.
