Support Your Park

After touring the Lincoln Home, you may want to support the park by:

•Volunteering

•Being a park steward

•Bringing a friend or school group to the park

•Buying a book or souvenir in the Eastern National bookstore

If you have the time and skills, you may be able to become a park volunteer by contacting the volunteer coordinator at 217-391-3244. The volunteer coordinator can assist with determining how you can help Lincoln Home NHS in its mission to preserve and interpret the Lincoln Home and Lincoln’s 1860-era Neighborhood for this and future generations.

While visiting the park, be a park steward by leaving the park in at least as good of condition as when you arrived. Treat the land with respect by picking up litter, staying on boardwalks, and disposing of refuse in recycling or garbage cans.

Bring a friend, family member, or school group to the park to tour the Lincoln Home and neighborhood. To schedule a ranger-led tour of the Lincoln Home for groups of 15 or more, call 1-800-545-7300 extension 154 for adult groups, and 1-800-545-7300 extension 126 for youth and school groups.

The Eastern National Bookstore located in the Visitor Center at the Lincoln Home National Historic Site has many books available for purchase about Abraham and Mary Lincoln, specific events in Lincoln's life, Lincoln's significance in history, and the Civil War. The Museum Shop also has apparel, CDs, DVDs, collectables, souvenirs, and children's items.

The Museum Shop is operated by Eastern National Cooperating Association, a not for profit partner of the National Park Service. Eastern National provides quality educational products and services to the visitors to America's national parks and other public trusts.

Eastern National, chartered in 1948, is an association operating in more than 130 national parks and other public trusts. Its policies and programs are guided by an elected board of directors. The board, the members and the staff are dedicated to the preservation and use of the parks for the benefit of Americans and international visitors, and their future generations.

Eastern National currently operates educational retail outlets in 30 states, from Maine to the Caribbean. All of the products, programs and publications offered to visitors have a strong educational value and support the educational programs of the Service. Eastern National proceeds are donated to the National Park Service and their other partners to further support these programs. Since 1947, Eastern National has donated over $77 million to the National Park Service.

Did You Know?
In 1860, eleven-year-old Grace Bedell wrote to Lincoln suggesting he grow a beard to “look a great deal better.” Lincoln met Bedell on his way to Washington, giving her a hearty kiss to thank her for her idea. Lincoln Home National Historic Site, Illinois
