The American Chamber of Commerce in Taipei (AmCham) is a non-profit, non-partisan business organization dedicated to promoting the interests of international business in the Republic of China. In the 50-plus years since its founding, AmCham has become the largest, most effective business organization in Taiwan. With more than 900 members representing more than 500 companies, AmCham speaks with collective authority on international business matters in every sector of the economy.

Happy New Year

The January edition of Taiwan Business TOPICS is devoted each year to our Wine & Dine in Taiwan special issue. It appears, appropriately, around the time of the lunar New Year, which for Taiwanese is traditionally a period for enjoying good things to eat and drink.

Also in the spirit of the Chinese New Year, the Wine & Dine issue represents a bit of a break from the highly serious reading matter that normally fills most of the pages of this magazine. At the same time, AmCham recognizes that Taiwan's culinary accomplishments are highly deserving of attention. The joys of dining out in Taiwan are a big part of the steadily improving quality of life on the island - to the benefit both of residents of Taipei (whether Taiwanese or expats) and of foreign visitors.

AmCham 2009 New Officers

Dear AmCham Members,

With great pleasure, I would like to introduce 2009 Officers of AmCham Taipei who were elected by 2009 Board of Governors on December 9, 2008. Mr. Alan Eusden, President of Corning Displays Technologies Taiwan, will lead the Officer’s group and assume the Chairmanship in 2009. The Chamber is very fortunate to have five solid and enthusiastic leaders to guide the office and to represent 900 plus members. Please join me to congratulate them.
