Chemical Spill Guided Tour: Part 5

Damaged vessel at anchor after storm.

Emergency responders use CAMEO when they deal with hazardous chemicals.

During a storm in 1992, magnesium phosphide accidentally escaped from storm-damaged drums into the hold of the cargo vessel at right.

NOAA Office of Response and Restoration scientists used CAMEO information about this hazardous chemical as they helped the U.S. Coast Guard respond to this accident.
