WASHINGTON—Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez today released the following statement on President Bush's signing H.R. 4297, the Tax Relief Extension Reconciliation Act of 2005:
President Bush's signature on this tax relief legislation is truly a victory for American workers and businesses and important to maintaining the healthy economy. The Bush Administration's pro-growth economic policies are at the heart of America's current economic resilience. The positive results are undeniable. Our economy continues to expand at a healthy rate, more than 5.2 million jobs have been created since August 2003, productivity is strong, and homeownership remains near its all-time highs. This tax relief legislation is a key part of the President's economic agenda that will continue to spur more economic growth, create more jobs, and help working families.
