- 30% are due to a genetic syndromes
- 56% are nonsyndromic due to autosomal recessive genes
- 12% are nonsyndromic due to autoosomal dominant genes
- 2% are nonsyndromic due to X linked genes or mitochondrial inheritance
Syndromic Hearing Loss:
Examples of the most frequent syndromes associated with hearing loss are:
- Stickler Syndrome: as an autosomal dominant disorder with sensorineural hearing loss, occasional conductive hearing loss, midface hypoplasia, marfanoid habitus.
