INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Federal disaster assistance for Indiana residents and businesses affected by the Sept. 12 through Oct. 6 storms and flooding is now $61.76 million. The assistance is in the form of grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

To date, 26,029 homeowners, renters and business owners have applied for disaster assistance.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
