City and Town Areas (NECTAs), while areas in other states are county-based. Some metropolitan areas
lie in two or more states. They are listed under the state that appears first in their titles. Some
divisions lie in more than one state, and some, like Camden, N.J., are totally outside the states under
which their metropolitan areas are listed.
