Paper: FAA Airport Surveying - GIS Program

Most Recent eAOC Releases

The eAOC is a collection of geospatial data that has been determined to be relevant to air transportation on and near airports. Several techniques are used in obtaining these data, including ground survey, remote sensing , manual entry or calculated values. The types of information typically collected consist of reference data including runway and navaid information, data relating to imaginary surfaces that define safe altitudes for approaches and landings (Obstruction Identification Surfaces or OIS as specified in the FAA’s Federal Aviation Regulations Part 77) including obstacle and obstructing areas, layout of an airport including aircraft movement areas, and features found at and near an airport of landmark value.

Digital products include the eAOC in 3-D Shapefile format that adheres to the Airport Obstruction Chart Data Content Standard, a print-quality Geo-referenced Portable Document Format (GeoPDF) file with layers and object feature attributes, the Universal Data Delivery Format (UDDF) file, and aerial image of airport.
