Work Objectives:
- To assist in the major functions of the CDC collaboration in strengthening the capacities of the Nigerian Government and non-government health institutions for HIV surveillance, prevention, care and support programs.
- Assist in the management and administration of CDC GAP Nigeria’s growing programs by providing operations and administrative e.g. development of personnel forms, position descriptions, monitoring of contracts and other duties as assigned.
- Assist in various duties as assigned by the Global 2000 program and appropriate district and local authorities through CDC and the Carter Center. Activities may be focused on surveillance and case containment at the village level in endemic districts.
- STOP Team members: a) promote, conduct, and evaluate active surveillance for acute flaccid paralysis; b) conduct polio case investigations and follow-up; and c) plan, implement, and evaluate National Immunization Days and house-to-house "mopping up" activities. Work environments are extremely challenging and may include extremes of temperature, lack of electricity, lack of adequate medical facilities, poor sanitation, inconsistent water supply, and rugged traveling conditions.
- Participate in GAP-Nigeria planning sessions, meetings, conferences and site visits as required.
