Work Objectives:
- Assist in one of the major functions of the CDC-Ethiopia program in strengthening the capacities of the Ethiopian government and partners for HIV prevention, care and treatment programs under President Bush’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)as well as help develop CDC-Ethiopia wide research agenda, coordinate data based decision making process at CDC-Ethiopia.
- Provide management and operational support including support with cooperative agreements, contract development, implementation, and management and develop tracking systems for the same.
- STOP Team members: a) promote, conduct, and evaluate active surveillance for acute flaccid paralysis; b) conduct polio case investigations and follow-up; and c) plan, implement, and evaluate National Immunization Days and house-to-house "mopping up" activities. Work environments are extremely challenging and may include extremes of temperature, lack of electricity, lack of adequate medical facilities, poor sanitation, inconsistent water supply, and rugged traveling conditions.
- Surveillance and case containment of Guinea Worm and other duties as assigned by the Carter Center Global 2000 Program.
