Celebrate 100 Years of Discovery!

Come join the celebration at Dinosaur National Monument this summer! One hundred years ago, paleontologist Earl Douglass made a famous discovery of fossils in what is now Dinosaur National Monument, and to commemorate that find, we are hosting special events all summer.

Come rediscover your childhood through special programs, talks, and hikes. Or discover Dinosaur National Monument for the first time and enjoy all we have to offer. Bring your children and help them discover the monument through our Junior Ranger and Junior Paleontologist programs. Participate in activities to keep the kids entertained and learning all summer.

The celebration kicks off Saturday, April 25, 2009, with Junior Ranger Day. Other events are planned throughout the summer with the final event taking place the weekend of August 15-16.

Did You Know?
Paleontologist Earl Douglass first came to Utah looking for mammal fossils. He returned in 1909 and discovered an immense deposit of dinosaur bones, now protected at Dinosaur National Monument. Although made famous by dinosaurs, Douglass died preferring his beloved mammal fossils over dinosaurs.
