MEDIA INFORMATION ON HURRICANES AVAILABLE THROUGH NOAA

With a crush of hurricane inquiries bogging down regular information sources, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has established alternate sources of information on Hurricanes Bonnie and Danielle for the media.

ALTERNATE WEB SITES:

A new NOAA Public Affairs Web Site, Hurricane Media Central, was established after a large number of hits made it difficult to log onto the National Hurricane Center Web Page. To access numerous sources of hurricane information at NOAA's Media Central, please visit:

www.publicaffairs.noaa.gov/hurricanes.html

The National Weather Service Southern Region Headquarters has also posted a special hurricane page at:

www.srh.noaa.gov/

Soon after Bonnie began brewing in the south Atlantic, the hurricane center web site began receiving more than a million visits per day. The NOAA hurricane page, Hurricane Media Central, caught on rapidly since its debut on August 25 with more than 46,000 visits logged so far from all over the world.
