One Crime, Many Victims—60 Seconds

[Opening: Teenage daughter, Jessica, sitting on bed in her room, facing camera]
Jessica: I remember it as if it occurred 10 minutes ago.

[Teenage son, Matt, standing in living room, facing camera]
Matt: My mom was hit head on by a drunk driver

[Camera pans to closeup of mother sitting on living room couch] and almost killed.

[Jessica, sitting on bed in her room, facing camera]
Jessica: When this man crashed into my mom, he really crashed into our entire family.

[Mother, Reidel, in profile, sitting in kitchen holding a coffee cup and looking away from camera, then on living room couch facing camera]
Reidel: Part of my son died that day.

[Matt, standing in living room, facing camera]
Matt: The nightmares started about a month after the crash.

[Reidel, sitting in living room, facing camera]
Reidel: I saw my 8-year-old daughter become an adult overnight.

[Jessica, sitting on bed in her room, facing camera]
Jessica: It was just really odd to be brushing your mom's teeth because she couldn't.

[ Reidel, sitting on bed in her room, looking away from camera]
Reidel: I, at that point, lost all ability to be a wife.

[Matt, standing in living room, facing camera]
Matt: They ended up separating and getting a divorce.

[Jessica, sitting on bed in her room, facing camera]
Jessica: Our family unraveled.

[Matt, first standing in living room, looking at camera. Then, looking out the window.]
Matt: I fell into a depression and that led into getting heavily into drugs.

[Reidel, sitting on living room couch]
Reidel: You can't ever get back the time that was lost.

[Jessica, sitting on bed in her room, facing camera]
Jessica: We all are survivors.

[Reidel speaks from living room couch; then Matt joins her, standing behind couch; and Jessica sits on arm of couch; all face the camera]
Reidel: One crime can have many victims.

Matt: My mom and I are there for each other.

Jessica: My mom is my hero.
